From 22–24 April, the Board of the Fund for Responding to Loss and Damage (FRLD) will meet in Livingstone, Zambia, following an informal session on 21 April. This is more than another convening—it is a defining moment to determine whether long-standing global commitments on loss and damage will finally translate into real, accessible support for frontline communities.
At the heart of the discussions is the question of delivery: how the Fund becomes fully operational, how finance is mobilised and distributed, how impact is measured, and how countries can meaningfully access support. The meeting will also shape longer-term directions around resource mobilisation, partnerships, and engagement with civil society.
In line with the objectives of #LossAndDamageFinanceNow!, this moment presents a critical opportunity to bring the priorities and lived realities of young people and frontline communities directly into decision-making spaces. In response, we have launched a statement that captures these perspectives—calling for a Fund that is responsive, transparent, and capable of delivering at the scale and urgency required
