Assessment of COP30 Outcomes Relative to Our COP30 Technical Demands

Ahead of COP30, the Loss and Damage Youth Coalition — in collaboration with Global Citizen — launched a powerful set of youth-led technical demands rooted in justice, urgency, and the lived experiences of frontline communities. More than 18,000 young people and global citizens added their voices, calling on world leaders to deliver meaningful action on loss and damage, climate finance, adaptation, transparency, and just transition etc.

These demands reflected what young people expected from decision-makers: credible commitments, equitable processes, and outcomes that put people before profit.

Yet COP30 — despite running beyond its scheduled timeline — delivered a mixed picture. Some areas showed encouraging movement, while others fell short of both need and expectation.

To help unpack what really happened, the Loss and Damage Youth Coalition has developed an assessment. This concise assessment compares the final outcomes from COP30 with each of our technical demands. It highlights where progress was made and where gaps remain.

In the document, you’ll find:

  • A demand-by-demand breakdown of outcomes
  • Clear status reflections (met, partially met, weak, or no outcome)
  • Youth-centered analysis rooted in frontline realities

This assessment is also an invitation to reflect, organize, and push collectively for the ambitious and just outcomes the world urgently needs.
