Overview of the Bonn Climate Change Conference

The Bonn Climate Change Conference, also known as the UNFCCC Subsidiary Body sessions, is an annual event that brings together the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI) and the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA). The upcoming conference, referred to as “SB58,” is scheduled to take place from June 5 to 15 at the UNFCCC headquarters in Bonn. During the June sessions, a wide range of crucial topics will be discussed. These include strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, addressing the impacts of climate change and implementing adaptation measures, providing financial support to developing countries to facilitate emission reductions, and fostering resilience to climate-related challenges. One of the primary objectives of these intersessional sessions is to make necessary preparations for the upcoming Conference of the Parties (COP) in Dubai, scheduled for December 2023. By engaging in productive discussions and sharing insights, the conference aims to act as a catalyst, encouraging all participating parties to maintain and enhance their climate ambitions. This collaborative approach seeks to ensure that no country remains stagnant in their efforts to combat climate change
